Will I have problems because I stopped taking my medication?
Hey, I have a question. I started coming off my medication two weeks ago (quetiapine and mirtazapine) because they just weren't doing me any good, or rather, they weren't really working for me. Since all the psychiatrists were full, I couldn't get a spot there, and I won't be getting one any time soon. My therapist said last hour that I could come off them. The thing is, I'm going to vocational rehab soon, and of course they'll want to see my medication plan, and the medications are listed there, but I didn't realize that it would make a really bad impression if I just came off my medication without a doctor in the background. What should I do? I wasn't on a high dose either—50mg quetiapine and 15mg mirtazapine. I stopped taking the quetiapine and am gradually tapering off the mirtazapine. Incidentally, I was put on the tablets in the psychiatric ward and got them from my GP. I was kind of scared to mention to my GP that I really didn't feel well on the tablets. Overall, I'm doing really well; I've hardly had any withdrawal symptoms so far. The only thing is that yesterday I felt a bit sick and had a bit of a low mood.
Hey, that sounds like a pretty difficult situation. It’s understandable that you wanted to drop your medication if they didn’t help you. But it is also important to discuss this with a doctor, especially if you go to a professional rehab soon. Maybe you could try to get an appointment with another psychiatrist to discuss your situation and make a plan. It’s good to hear that you didn’t have many apparitions, but it’s still important to take care of you.
Yes I really know all the psychiatrists I called are full
Dan talk to your family doctor.
It’s never good to put such drugs on their own.
I know 😅 and that was a stupid idea of me
Good thing you see.
