Battery defective?
Hey guys, my car wouldn't start a while ago. So I checked the battery voltage (11.6V at the time). I charged it up and then I was able to drive again. That was about 6 months ago. It worked fine for a while. For a few days now, I've been having some trouble starting and was thinking it was the starter or the battery. Now I checked my battery and it read 12.6V. I started it, turned it off straight away, and tried to start it again, but then it wouldn't start. The battery is only producing 12.1V. Do you think the battery is already dead and I should buy a new one?
12.1 volts are sufficient for a start process. I suspect the starter has a defect. An armature winding has an interruption. so that no current can flow depending on the position of the armature.
On the other hand, it could also be that the magnetic switch temporarily does not work.
Or is it that the starter does the engine but does not start?
So it was so that he turned. He doesn’t do that anymore
Then it’s not the starter, it’s a defective battery.
With the idling voltage it is impossible to close to the state of the battery.
Well, it’s not idling, it’s when everything starts after a while. And after starting to “lost” 0.6V appears to me high.
So the battery reloaded and started again. The voltage of the battery has broken down to about 9.6V. Must be a new one
Right procedure.
Everything from = idle voltage. Does nix have to do with the engine run (then everything under 13.6V would be highly dangerous).
But yes, a voltage loss of 0.6V after a start-up process is already a bit violent. If you miss the voltage drop on the battery when starting, the voltage drop drops below 9-10V, you can order a new battery directly.

For lead batteries, what is older than 3 years is given. If your battery has to pull several hundred ampères to operate the starter in cold, the voltage will collapse to such an extent that the control units will no longer respond.
I would have replaced the battery six months ago. It was to be seen that she won’t survive the winter. Battery doesn’t cost much today.

No, I was wondering how many Km per ride is done! Start, 2Km back… that doesn’t make a new battery long!
Battery charging has been enough half a year ago… How many km do you travel on the day or on? 2… 5…. 20 If this is always only extremely short distances, the battery never comes to its right to be loaded enough again by the lighting machine. Then it should be more often to the charger.
in the worse case, the battery is actually over now. As I said, you’re just driving ultra short distances. should reload them…
Measure the voltage when starting. If then under 10V it is slowly critical
