Basil turning brown?
My basil is turning brown at the very base of the stem and then developing spots/bumps that spread across the entire stem. I don't see any aphids running around. There's already honeydew on the leaves. Does anyone know what this could be?
Hello,
This could be basil of the variety 'Genoveser' ( Ocimum basilicum ) .
Basil ( Ocimum basilicum ) is an herbaceous plant that can grow up to 70 centimeters tall and probably originated in the thornbush savannah of northwest India . However, due to very early cultivation, which can be traced back to around 1,000 BC in the Indian subcontinent and to ancient Egypt, it is no longer possible to say exactly where basil's original home is. The plant is now cultivated everywhere in tropical, subtropical, and temperate regions . In temperate Germany, however, outdoor basil is only available from the end of June to the beginning of October. Only in a greenhouse can it grow year-round in the temperate zone .
I think your basil has a nutrient deficiency . Perhaps it's a nitrogen deficiency . However, the symptoms you're exhibiting don't align with any nutrient deficiency.
Since I honestly don't know exactly, I've written here how to properly care for the variety Ocimum basilicum 'Genoveser', which is often offered in Germany:
Basil 'Genoveser' requires a germination temperature between 18 and 25 °C, a warm and sunny location and humus-rich and moist to moderately moist soil.
Green greetings
Douka

Yes, it's probably just splash damage. Then it would be white limescale.
I haven’t found any suitable nutrient deficiency either.
Hallo Zorro20 👋🏻
