Light, warmth, wind.

Now you can easily propagate regular basil from the supermarket using cuttings.

If you don't insist on organic seeds, any basil seeds from a discount store, supermarket, or hardware store will do.

You can grow it year-round in a sunny, bright, and warm spot (like a windowsill). However, during the darker months, natural light is a bit too limited for it, so it will struggle. Grow light?

Make sure it's a light germinator. This means don't cover the seeds with soil, just press them down and keep them moist at all times. Since basil thrives next to tomato plants, it has similar nutrient requirements.

Personally, I prefer "black" basil because it's more resilient, more flavorful, and more attractive, and its flowers also have ornamental and savory qualities. When the green basil dies, the dark basil stays in good shape for a long time. It's also easy to propagate from cuttings. Simply cut a few sprigs, place them in water, and then plant.

There are various varieties of basil, but the "normal green" variety is the easiest to cultivate. Sowing and further cultivation is also possible indoors on a windowsill.

Go to a garden center – eg Dehner, Koelle they have good seeds in their assortment
