Bar mower: Replace pull rope handle?
Good day, Managing Director.
The pull cord handle on my older scythe mower broke at the end of last year. I replaced it this year with a hard rubber handle, but it proved far too weak to bear the weight of the pull and broke after just a few uses.
Since, as you can see, I am absolutely not experienced in this area, now the question:
The pulley itself is a steel cable. What material would be suitable?
If you are looking for something permanent, which lasts the next decades, then take a piece of half-inch water pipe (building market), draw the center and drill a hole in the diameter of the rope across the pipe.
Then you drill the hole from one side larger so that you can place the node you need to make in the rope.
Of the parts I have already made several for friends and acquaintances and all say that would hold “eternal and three days”.
If you don’t have a tool for it, please go to a locksmith – you build the part for a small donation for the coffee bar.

Iwo do not understand what your answer might have to do with the questioning in application practice…🤔
I’d like to help you:
Last year the handle was broken at the reversing starter of the beam mower of the FS.
He has replaced this handle with a full rubber that has broken through after a few start attempts because it was not stable enough.
The FS asked for a solution I called him.

And the Fleiges!
Greetings to “Jupp aus Müssingen” 🙂
You are right @JochenOWL, because my experience with the lateral cutter bar actually referred to a more Old Slips, and not on a (also old) interpretation 🙂
Now I am proud, for I understood you ;-)))

Lag certainly also because I could not describe the problem accurately enough due to the lack of expertise.
@Gnurfy is sweet, helpful and often gives good answers.
Only this time he sat in the wrong bus but that can happen.
Lovely weekend and greetings
That also explains why I had no idea what you wanted to tell me with your answer. ^^
No problem.
You’ve probably thought of an old 15th deutz with mowing beams….or a gaiter with a gyro mower.
Lovely weekend and greetings
I thought today more of a real Deutz oil with lateral beam knife cultivation.
Sorry we had misunderstood each other.
Why not keep in mind the mechanics of an old tractor without a snare? Who is an “beautiful” handle functional?
Isn’t anything else tinnef if the pure mechanics don’t spark.
