Bad Abitur grade – a problem for studying?

Hello,

I received my Abitur results yesterday, and everything went well except for German. A retake wouldn't improve that much, since I got a 2 in German. Despite that, my overall average is still 1.7. Since I want to study history, I'm wondering if this exam result is a problem.

kind regards

Colleges/universities only look at the Abitur grade, that's it, if they look at the Abitur grade at all (there are also those without a minimum grade requirement).

Grade point averages are rarely taken into account for university admission. It all depends on what you want to study and whether your grade is appropriate for the program.

Is there an admissions restriction for history? I don't think so. You can find information about this on the website of your prospective university.

If there are no admission restrictions, the university doesn't care about your Abitur grade, as long as you pass (and meet any other admission requirements)
