Axolotl transport?

Hello,

In a few days, the time has come for me to pick up two baby axolotls. I have to pick up one of them first, which is about two hours away from me. I'll pick up the other baby axolotl from there, which is about an hour's drive. Then it's another one-hour drive to my house. So the first axolotl has a two-hour drive ahead of it, and the second one about an hour.

Now my question: How do I best transport both animals? With ice packs? Do you have any tips?

Please only answers from people with experience or their own axolotls… Thanks.

Hello

For transport, I would use an isolated box. The axolotl is quite robust in terms of temperature. In the box, the temperature in the car is relatively stable and this is enough for this transport time. It is more important, however, that the animals have sufficient oxygen during time, so much ambient air in the transport bag. I would also transport the animals separately, which they could otherwise attack on too narrow space and movement.

I hope that can help.

Jep, that would go too. I would then isolate the box on the sides and not the water that the animals can climb out.
