So I’d say now, this is the meaning of an automatic kfz.

you have the D, R and P into which you can set the selector lever. There’s no clutch pedal.

or do I get the question wrong?

and there are also cars, there is the selector lever on the steering wheel (at the older cls*) or is a rotary switch (at ieinem Jaguar*)

*I’m sure there are others, but I’m sure that’s what I know.

Parking.

D = duration, so drive. then it will be automatic.

There are a lot of cars where you don’t have to push gears back and forth like a Maschinist. There is the classic automatic transmission, the double-coupling transmission and the CVT mentioned by you. Technically all different and you can argue about what is better, more sporty etc., but all in common is that the driver only has to move backwards or forwards, the rest makes the technique. Better than most drivers. Because there are still these E cars that you do not need to switch.
