Car for commuting (55km)?
Hello everyone,
I hope you can help me with your experience, as my plan for a new car has changed fundamentally due to my new job.
Regarding my situation: I have a new job about 55 km from where I live, which means I drive about 110 km a day. About 75% of that is on the highway and the rest is in town.
Now I'm faced with the question of which car is best suited for this route. Since I'll be driving over 2,000 km a month, I don't want to invest too much money. At the same time, however, I value a certain level of comfort, especially an automatic transmission, a good stereo system, and a robust vehicle that can easily handle even long traffic jams.
My thoughts: Should I rather spend €3,000-4,000 on a proven older diesel (e.g. 1.9 TDI) that probably still runs reliably, or should I invest €6,000-8,000 or more to get a more modern car that will, however, gain mileage faster?
I would also be happy to receive personal recommendations for specific models that, based on your experience, would be a good fit for my situation.
Thank you in advance for your help!
On the route, an electric car is definitely, even if you have doubts about long-distance suitability (which are unfounded) the best choice.
The only requirement is that you can charge at work or at home.
I also considered an electric car, problem is only: I have neither at home nor at work possibilities for charging. Even outside loading would not be a problem in itself, just cost cars which have good charging technology and a solid equipment have far more than 8000€…
But that’s true the cost you have to get back in as you have tax savings, the fuel is cheaper and the car is serviced more rarely. If you finance a car for 15,000-20000€, you will bite at the monthly costs lower than with the burner for 8000€ plus control fuel and maintenance at 110 kilometers a day
Consumption is relevant for the route. Even if you consume only one litre less, saving quickly adds up and justifies buying an expensive car.
Because of congestion, you don’t have to worry about it, every car can. And from the music you don’t get much on the highway, it’s overtoned by the noise.
If you have a charge at home, possibly with its own solar system, an electric car would also be worth it in the medium term. If this can be loaded every night, it doesn’t have to have such a wide range.
At the distance, there is also a lot of charitable costs, I didn’t think about it as I worked in another city for a few years, where no train departs from here. I would therefore choose at least one car that has little maintenance costs per kilometre, because what you have received from the employer or the tax office has never covered the real costs.
Here is a lot of important
I would recommend the following from these parameters:
BMW F30 from 2017 as 320d
