Get rid of your car?

Hello!

Given the current (climate) situation, I'm gradually coming to the idea of getting rid of my car. The background: I had no experience as a driver. I got my driver's license in 2018 (I'm now 29) and since then, I've hardly driven. I wanted to practice and drive more often, but the opportunity never arose. At the same time, many of my friends could drive, and because I didn't want to fall behind them and generally wanted to learn, I bought a 14-year-old Polo in 2020. I've become a much better and more confident driver since then. I enjoy driving; it's fun. Now, with the rise in gasoline prices, it's becoming significantly more expensive for me as a single driver, which I notice every day. For this reason, I'm considering giving the car to my father (who lives in another EU country).

Do you think I should feel guilty because I bought the car just to try out what it's like to have a car?

Greetings!

A bad thing because you have a car? Not guaranteed! The Federal Republic of Germany spent 96 million tonnes of crude oil in 2020. Measured in world demand, this is just 2.4%. From this, all kinds of plastics are produced, Sprit…… Now, get down, how much the fuel is lost and then ask yourself again if you have a bad conscience to have a car.

Something really needs to be done in terms of environmental and climate protection. But one thing is certain… The car is not the scapegoat No. 1 as here all the world wants to make white. Look at the CO2 emissions from just one coal-fired power station, you’ll be dizzying!

Building industry, i.e. everything related to the operation of a house or business, trade…. produces almost as much CO2 as traffic. (https://www.mdr.de/wissen/deutschland-top-fuenf-climate-emissions-100.html#sprung2) And who’s yelling to turn off heating or consume some less fuel? In the gaunting around the car, these calls are hidden in the Nirvana.

So if you don’t use the car to drive every meter instead of going or using the bike, you don’t need to have a bad thing.

Do you think I have to have bad conscience because I bought the car to try it just like it’s a car to have?

Is your money and not mine?

You don’t have to be ashamed. You’ve earned your own car, now you’re safe and happy. This is a piece of personal freedom and quality of life. If the price of gasoline rises, you’ll get a little less.

If you don’t need the car to your daily life, then give it off.

For purchases, daily supplies not needed? Let’s go!

Are you going anywhere in a reasonable time with public transport? Then you won’t break a car!

Feels happy, because here with us you are already 4 hours on the road for 50 kilometers away. And we live on the edge of the Ruhr area 😉

You don’t have to have a bad conscience.

These must have the ne mega yacht possess which consumed several 100 litres per hour of fuel.

Neither do they. This yacht will never be moved… if it were moved you would have been right. However, production is worse than consumption xD

Unfortunately, it doesn’t matter to them…
