Bought a car and now it's broken, what should I do?

I bought an Alfa Romeo 159 on October 18, 2021, and paid a deposit of €600 that day. On October 24, 2021, I paid the remaining €2,000 and took the car with me. On October 26, 2021, I re-registered the car and drove to the garage because the seller (private purchase) had told me that only a relay worth around €50 was broken. When I asked why he hadn't had it repaired himself, his only answer was: I'm a relaxed driver anyway, so it didn't bother me. It's just a broken relay that causes the car to go into emergency mode if you push it too hard.

Back to the workshop…

I was at the garage, and he read the car's diagnostics, and there was already a lot of other things wrong. The particulate filter, etc. Then he cleared the error message and told me to drive around and kick it. So I drove and kicked it, and tada! The check engine light came on again. I went back to the garage and turned it off. The mechanic got in, and the car wouldn't start anymore… So now he's looked at the car and told me a lot of things that aren't right.

When the seller had the oil changed, he must have known that the engine was leaking oil… He didn't tell me…

The tie rods are broken, the starter is defective, etc.

Now I'm without a car, I can't get to work and I've thrown 2600 euros out the window

I have attached the purchase contract. Can someone please tell me if I can get out of this???? 😭

When changing the oil the seller had to let him know that the engine lost oil… He didn’t tell me…

A certain oil loss is completely normal in a car in the price class. Since the TÜV does not even mecker when it remains within the frame.

The racks are broken, the starter is broken, etc.

The starter can’t be that bad. Track rods are also a common defect in old cars, which the seller does not necessarily have to notice.

if I get out of there?

Normally not.

It’ll be very hard. But from Alpha Romeo 159, I would have guessed you from the front. That’s pretty much the poorest quality cars you can buy. Even with new models there were massive failures and deficiencies during the first 1000km. You’d better try to get rid of the car somehow, otherwise it’s gonna be a barrel without a floor. Get a well-maintained Toyota, with which you have the least trouble.

If you buy a car without a test drive, take a risk.

And you have this assurance in writing in the purchase agreement?

So you deliberately bought a broken car. There’s nothing to get for you….

Apart from your names and addresses, you can’t see so much in the contract.

probably no longer.

he has used your inexperience shamelessly

Conclusion: Better spend 6000 ruto more with a serious dealer and have a reasonable car with warranty
