Authentic writing?

Hello,

I'm currently writing a story set between 1850 and 1880. I wanted to ask a few questions to make the plot more authentic. My character visits a wealthy family member's remote country house. How and by whom would he be greeted? Is this done by the housekeeper or another employee? What are the names of the rooms in such a large building? And if my character were to eventually inherit the family member's house and money, how would that work? Did notaries and wills exist back then, as we know them today? Or was the concept different back then?

Thank you in advance for your answers, even if you can only answer one of the questions mentioned.
