Year abroad at 16 (experiences)?

Hello,

I'm taking my final exams at secondary school this year and will be finished at 16, after the 10th grade.

I was thinking about going to FOS first and then becoming an au pair in the USA/Australia.

Or the other option would be that I go to a high school or something similar right after school because I think that's so cool. But that's really expensive🤷🏼‍♀️

Could I do something like that after my FOS in America, like with school or something?

What are your experiences with a year abroad? Can you recommend it?

I look forward to your answers:)

Yeah, you can do that, but it’s also expensive. With €12000 to €15000 you will be there.

Could I do something like that after my FOS in America, so with school or something?

School not, because the visa provides that school education must not be completed when you go to the USA. But keep the costs.

Aupair goes after school and from 18. W&T also goes from 18 but only in countries that allow this. Australia, New Zealand, Canada are the most famous. The USA does not support such a visa.

What are your experiences with a year abroad, can you recommend it?

However, I believe that student years are bringing more, so semester abroad, internships and the like.

So staying abroad that will keep you academic and not just Cool are.

In my knowledge, Au Pair jobs have a lower age limit of 18 years. It doesn’t fit.

Either you go to a school for some time and that’s very expensive or you’ll check out on the internet if there are volunteer jobs that you can do at 16 years.

The consideration with the FOS is probably the better solution, because then you can make work&travel from 18 years old and go to Australia, New Zealand or Canada for 1 year.

So I got this here and organized… after the 10th grade abroad in America (Chile). If you book this as a complete package via a agency, then that may go, which will tell you that. Individually planned, it is really crazy complicated to send a minor to Chile alone. So without parents/authorities. We have therefore put the matter back, only 2 years FOS and then (now on August) 1 year Chile.

Objective… everyone must know. Here was the selection Chile – Argentina, and more by chance it has become Chile.

Aupair stays do not pay. You’re only being exploited.

It can make sense to study at an American university, but I would like to consider not one of the numerous American universities in Europe.

The living conditions in the USA are unpleasant. Many people are extremely conservative and puritanic. At worst, you’ll be shot legally because you’ve lost yourself in a strange garden.

Au pair? So for rich people who could pay a decent employee for free to work?

If you want that, why not pay for people who can’t pay? I still have work.

I don’t think you’re aware of the cost of a host family taking up an Au Pair. This already begins with the brokerage of approximately 6,000 NOK. The family provides a private room for catering, full catering, 4 weeks of paid vacation. This alone makes up a reasonable sum if you want to rent a room and take care of yourself. I pay NOK 8,000/month pocket money for an Au Pair over 20 with good references. The costs for compulsory language courses are largely covered – even almost NOK 10,000. I’m putting a car to use for private rides. Working time approx. 4 hours a day, i.e. approx. 20/ rare 25 hours per week. In the evening except for a few exceptions, also Sa /So.

Let’s go on a trip or go on holiday for a few days, the Au Pair gets the offer to take part in our costs – and has time for free use, because Papa and Mom are there for the care of the children. All in all, with NOK 100,000 a year, I don’t even come to Kost and Logis. I’m sure I forgot some more costs. You call that “working for nothing”?

I know the suffering of employers who are eating on the famine and need much, much lower wages. I hear every day in all talk shows.
