The DNA fiber is constructed like a knit conductor. The backbone of the conductors consists of a sugar, the deoxyribose, combined in alternation with phosphate. The sprouts of these conductors are formed by four organic bases: adenine (A) and thymine (T), cytosine (C) and guanine (G). A binds to T, C binds to G. Another combination is not possible.

The knitting ladder is turned helically around its own axis – this increases the stability. The keyword for this screw is Helix. In the case of the DNA, a double helix is present.
