Audi S6 V10 5.2l engine problems?

Hi, I'm thinking about buying the old S6.

I often read that the engine is not that robust, but from a certain year onwards it is reliable.

Is there anyone who can tell me more about it or advise me against it?

I am aware of the fuel consumption of 15l+!

I still have the S4 3.0TFSI 333hp or the S5 V8 4.2l in mind.

Which of the three vehicles would you consider the most robust and most likely to recommend?

V-AG engines are generally not recommended, especially the TSI/TFSI engines. It doesn’t matter how many cylinders or cylinder space the engine has, the parts are a bad construction and their best property is to baptize oil.

For the V-AG it is also quite normal if a motor consumes 1L oil to 1,000km. You then have to decide whether you want to laugh or weep, alternatively alternately or with professionals at the same time.

The larger TSI/TFSI engines with 8 and 10 cylinders have their macks too, if you know a more accurate model with year of construction you can find many information about it on the net. You will also find tons of information about the high consumption of oil.

The DSG, which was a lot of garbage especially in the first generations, continues. Although this has improved since it was able to mature with the customer in the meantime, these transmissions are still not particularly recommended.

Which of the three vehicles would you most appreciate and recommend?

If it is to be a vehicle of the V-AG, then only a Porsche. But then also not any wish-beer-peache alá Macan, which in the core is also only a Q5.

Since 2003, the V-AG has no longer been putting good vehicles on the road, and this has gone through until today. The modern the vehicles have become, the worse they have become – in any case my experience and opinion.

The time when Audi was still a flagship sign has long been over, with VW that is similar. VW has gone far away from the meaning of the Volkswagen, recognizable also that VW and V-AG are only concerned with throwing as many cars as possible from the band in order to be able to stand on the world market as a “brain”. Quantity instead of quality, the V-AG is a good example for.

So to answer your last question briefly and in a short way:

Not at all. Not if your money is worth and you want a vehicle that proves its services to you as a loyal companion.

If you want a sporty German you will find it at BMW, as well as at Porsche. At VW/Audi you will certainly find nothing and at Benz it will also be narrow. The good 6.3L V8 of Benz were/are the best V8 engines Germany has ever offered, although I still prefer the American V8 for a long time.

However, if you are not only interested in driving a German car, a look abroad is also recommended. There are some american sports cars with a large engine and a lot of space, then at least the ears have what of it. The Americans are not necessarily well-known for their ease of use, so you should first consider whether this is really an option. Especially at high speeds (but also in the case of strong acceleration…) one should know what to do with US cars, the German overregulated pussycists are not comparable.

However, the market on sports vehicles is in principle very large. For my part, I clearly prefer the American V8 engines and the associated cars. However, if you place value on German sportiness, you can only find it on BMW and Porsche. At VW, Audi or Benz (Opel…) you won’t be joined.

It’s all crap because VW Group.

I just heard bad about the V10!

If I would call myself a giant V8, then only what american (Dodge Challenger Hellcat/Demon) or a BMW, they have the most idea of sports motors in Germany (Porsche also, but these are still boxers, no six-cylinders or V8), also BMW and then for a long time nothing 😅

V10 is only the E60 M5, but it is not exactly known for its durability…
