Audi A5/A4 Probleme?

There were considerable problems with the 1.8 and 2.0 TFSI engines in the years 2008 to 2011. There was a much too high oil consumption due to incorrect components/components. That is why I would not call it a child’s disease, especially since not every TFSI engine has been affected for a long time.

The diesel vehicles also had problems with exhaust gas recirculation. Apart from that, there are problems that may arise, but not necessarily. There would be, for example, difficulties with the transmissions. More precisely, some report that the gears in the manual transmission are too bulky and sometimes cannot be engaged in the automatic movement. In addition, there were electrical problems related to a bad ground cable.

For this reason, there were often start-up problems. Otherwise, you pay attention to the general things you always pay attention to in older used vehicles. Like e.g.: motor running, leaks, brakes, brake pads, steering, drive shafts, tires and wheels etc. In the network there are checklists for used vehicles. Just look….

It concerns a specific series and engine number. More precisely, it is the engine EA 888 that makes or can make problems. In addition to increased oil consumption (false/deficient oil scraping rings), there can also be stress with the control chain/control chain tensioner/guide rail. The EA 888 engine from 88 KW to 228 KW is available in almost all models from 1.8 to 2.0 TFSI in the A1, A3/S3, A4, A5, A6, A7, Q3, Q5, Q7. From the 2015 years of construction, there were no more problems.
