AUDI A4 2.7 LITER 3.0 LITER – EXPERIENCES/ RECOMMENDATION?
Hi everyone, I'm looking for a new Audi, and I'd like an A4. Could you please share your experiences with me? Because of the power, I'd recommend a 2.7 or 3.0. Models from 2009 and later.
You hear various opinions online, some people prefer a manual car because of the Multitronic automatic transmission, while others claim that due to the high performance, a manual isn't good and an automatic is better. I personally would prefer an automatic. Do you have any experience with the Multitronic transmission? I've only ever had manual transmissions in my previous Audis. Can you perhaps give me some tips on what to look for when buying these models (year of manufacture, performance, equipment, etc.)? Is the 3.0-liter really that much more expensive to maintain than the 2.7? I would be very happy and hope you can make my decision easier (price would be up to €23,000).
Thanks so much!!
Is very susceptible to maintenance, the costs are very high, it has a very… peculiar character (gumband effect), should not switch very precisely and the statement that should be better with a lot of hp ne automatic than nen hand switch is absolute nonsense! Nen Subaru Impreza WRX STI zb has 300 hp and this is also available only from hand switches… Nissan 350/370Z, Honda S2000, Mazda RX-7 all hand switches and this is also good! Machines are just something for cars that are much on the go, in sports cars I don’t think that has lost anything and also takes a large part of the ride fun…
The Multitronic is very big, because it’s very faulty. The forums are full of them. Get your hands off the gear.
Got the 3 liter engine in my A6.
Consumptions on average( motorway, city and road) around 12 liters.
It’s okay. It’s quite good.
I’m not a big fan of Multitronic. When starting quickly, it has been quite rough in the turn. To cruise but okay.
However, the engine is very robust and with good care you have no problems with it. The good care is, of course, not cheap. I mean, all 120 tkm.
To the A4, there is not really much to say deficiencies to my experience. I would look for good equipment, history and general condition (smooth idling, good gear shifting).
And pay attention to accidental freedom – otherwise there are problems with rust and repair, because of the galvanized body and the construction is usually very expensive.
Make it easier for you to register in an audiforum and read the contributions and ask yours there.

Multitronic is Audi’s CVT gear, right?
Well, that’s what I haven’t seen before. But I’m driving a Nissan with gear of similar design.
Many curse it because it’s “other” than usual automatics. And because of the “Gummiband effect” during acceleration.
I like the gear for exactly these reasons. Coupled with 3.4 L capacity and 234 hp makes the mood – the gear also eats one or the other hp.
As regards costs,
Look at “Autokostencheck” and Spritmonitor. This gives a good insight into reality.
And drive the gear in full sample, that’s really something to taste.
Either you love or hate it. I think there’s nix in between.
