ASUS USB controller defective?

Hello, I recently started a thread about why my BIOS update made my PC unbootable, for context. The hard drive assignment must have been messed up: the boot file was simply gone. After reinstalling Windows, everything is back. The original problem was that my USB ports were recognized as 2.0; I've confirmed this in several ways. All drivers are installed and up to date (BIOS, MEI, Windows, USB, etc.). Is there anything else I could consider besides a hardware defect? ​​I'll call Asus tomorrow to see if the problem occurs frequently. MB: Asus Tuf Gaming B660 Plus Wifi.
