Ashwaganda and medication?

Can I take Ashwagandha with Fluoxetine and Elvanse? I've already taken it for one day, and it's had a positive effect on me. However, I don't know if it's a good idea to mix it with my usual tablets. I'm flying in three days, and I have claustophobia, so I wanted to take Ashwagandha so I can be more relaxed now and not worry about everything. Fluoxetine isn't helping at all right now anyway.

I know I could ask a doctor but I don't have time for that.

So usually nothing should be missing, but Chatgpt thinks that:

  • Serotonin syndrome: An excessive increase in serotonin levels, for example by the combination of serotonic substances such as fluoxetin with other active substances, could theoretically lead to a serotonin syndrome, even if this is not well documented in Ashwagandha.
  • Blood pressure and heart rate: Both Elvanse and Ashwagandha can affect blood pressure. While Elvanse can increase blood pressure, Ashwagandha may have low blood pressure effects.

Recommendation

It is advisable to discuss the combination with your doctor, especially if you plan to take Ashwagandha regularly. Your doctor can evaluate the potential risks and advise you accordingly.
