as a result of that…?

Hey,

Why are there two variants of the construct "because…"?

Sometimes "durch" and "das" are placed directly next to each other, separated only by a comma (I'm healthy because I eat a lot of fruit), and sometimes there's something else in between (I get to know my friends by going to the park every day). Why is that?

Thanks!!

“learning” is a so-called “collective verb”.

Infinitive: “learn”
1. Person Singular: “I learn (jemanden / something) know”

In the example mentioned by you, the prefix ‘understand’ is preceded, while the so-called ‘finite form’ (i.e. OHNE prefix) is at the following point. This results in this ‘settling clamp’.

In the second sentence, the verb means “learn”. It is divided – as you can see: I know.
