Artistic professions?

Hello, I'm currently a student and hobby producer (of electronic music). I've been seriously considering a career in music. The ideal scenario would obviously be to become a successful producer, but that's not realistic. What other options are there, with or without a high school diploma, if I want to stay on the musical path?

I've heard of audio engineering or sound technology. But is that a safe path? I'd love to work in a professional producer's studio or prepare the equipment for festivals. What do I need to learn now to be well prepared later? Is it really that difficult to find a job here? How musically gifted do I need to be to get a foothold here?

Thanks for all the answers!

prepare the technology for festivals.

This is not a musical profession in the sense. Your professional field is then “organization technician”.

To what extent do I have to be musically gifted in order to gain a foothold here?

general conditions for a musical profession:

  • Good hearing
  • Technical knowledge
  • rhythm feeling
  • Patience
  • Passion for music
  • Flexibility
  • Characteristics
  • Spontaneous

What do I have to do for myself now so that I’m well prepared later?

It depends on which direction you want to go. There are, of course, completely different conditions depending on the area. But of course, the general conditions listed above can be applied in advance.
