Pro:

  1. Education
  2. Species protection
  3. Research
  4. Arousing enthusiasm and interest for animals/ecology/biology/art protection etc

Contra:

  1. Animals are locked, usually have no free choice of partners, some shoots cannot live out
  2. Animals are sometimes wild, so the number of animals shrinks partially (based on very threatened species).
  3. Animals must live in them completely unconfortable climate zones (Eisbär in Dubai…).

These arguments relate primarily to the state, scientifically run zoos.

Pro:

  • you can watch the animals live
  • contributes partly to the preservation of animals

Contra:

  • the animals can usually not be kept properly. They squat in too small cages or cradles, cannot follow their natural shoots as running, hunting etc. and the climatic conditions do not fit. An ice bear, for example, is far too warm in Western Europe….

Animals in zoo are great to see

but perhaps that they are chilling in other countries
