Sure, there’s no law against it. It’s unprofessional. Therefore, you should not do it with customers or other external ones. It’s fine with colleagues

It depends on the company. Internally, you can do that if you are otherwise thirsty and have a loose relationship.

Regular customers sometimes send something like “thanks for the fast delivery 😊” to us, but as a rule this is rather unusual.

A very clear ” comes to the company and with whom you communicate” 😉
I have been self-employed for almost 30 years and can only say from my point of view that, on the one hand, a bank is traditionally still somewhat more conservative than an app-developing startup), and on the other hand, of course, also the person you communicate with. (How long do you know each other? / How is the sound in a phone call? etc)
I find the whole thing comparable to the clothing question. What’s ok in the club is not necessarily in the office ok, is not always in the restaurant ok, is not always…
So, in case of doubt, let it go first, unless your opponent uses it strongly and in your company there are no rules against it.

In the case of internal mails with e.g. colleagues, there is usually no objection.

For external mails with e.g. customers, business partners, suppliers, etc., it is not common.

Of course you can. But the more important question is who you communicate with. The boss or customer could also look weird. If you have a good relationship with colleagues, Emojis will also go.

This is usually not common in business, but if you write a little more informal, because you know each other better, it can happen.

Huhu, Jan.

Prohibiting is not….

It always depends on the situation, in particular on the relation to the person or persons concerned.

In case of administrative matters, one should avoid an emoji in the most appropriate way.

Greetings, Renate.

Just ask your boss what he says.

In office jobs with customer contact you will certainly receive and answer mails. Emojis have nothing to look for in professional writing. Private correspondence is often prohibited for security reasons.

I might be guessing, you never know how it’s coming from the superiors and how good the relationship is.

I wouldn’t.
