Are there any flight route maps on the net?

Hello, I have a transatlantic flight coming up (Frankfurt-Washington) and I would like to know the exact route of such a flight. I am aware that there are various air routes, but I would just like to know which land masses you could see at which point, as you are not flying exclusively over water. However, I can't find an exact map anywhere on the net that would show such (or similar) routes. Can anyone help?

It’s not that easy. The routes are based on the current weather and are assigned by air traffic control on the day of the flight. Over the Atlantic there is a route system of several parallel routes that is always changed daily. These routes are called NATs (North Atlantic Tracks). If you’re flying to Washington, you’ll be able to check a day before you see which routes to choose: http://www.turbulenceforecast.com/atlantic_eastbound_tracks.php

You might know where to fly.

Most often the shortest distance (if the weather is not too extreme). Between Frankfurt and Washington, this looks like: http://www.gcmap.com/mapui?P=eddf-kiad

So:

  1. I found the answers of my predecessors well. Some of the cards are really great and even more accurate cards you won’t find on the Internet. Every flight line is a little different. Why is this exact flight route even important? Let’s surprise you what you see (if bad weather is, you won’t see anything anyway). Besides, do you mean Washington DC or Washington State?

  2. The exact map is on board. At the end of the flight you can often see where the plane is straight. The individual airlines often have a more accurate map on their homepage. For example, from Lufthansa (just click on the picture and select the start airport and destination airport): http://www.lufthansa.com/de/en/Lufthansa-Route-Map

  3. You usually fly over Great Britain, Ireland and often you can see the snow of Greenland in nice weather (depending on what Washington you mean now and which exact flight route your airline has).
