Are metallic accents a good idea in web design?

The idea is a black and white website with green and gold accents. I'm a big fan of metallic styles, but I can also imagine that it will often get in the way of my personal branding because the appropriate options simply don't exist. For the website, I use the Divi theme, and I've found a few options for metallic coloring online. But what about product design, business cards, clothing, and invoices? If the gold turns into yellow, I'd rather leave it out, because that really doesn't look nice.
