Are bosses allowed to talk about applications privately?

I've been applying for new jobs over the past few days. It just occurred to me that my boss is relatively well-known around here. I applied to a company that's not too far from where he lives, and now I'm worried that my potential future boss knows my current boss personally. Is it even allowed for them to discuss things like this privately? Should he tell my boss that I've applied? Of course, my boss knows nothing about this, and I want it to stay that way…

Applicants are treated confidentially by companies, because all legal sounds can lead to a huge image loss. No reputable company really likes it.

Yes! You are not there when Chef A meets with Chef B on the golf course and you are exchanged about life in general and the profession in particular. There are no witnesses for this.

If you write to the application, please keep it confidential. What are the key positions you’ve been promoting?

Even if they know each other by chance, there are usually never any names.

Was the boss himself, knowing such conversations.

Maybe. But it may be different.

He can’t do that for data protection reasons, but he doesn’t mean that “under the hand” doesn’t happen after all according to the motto “I’m telling you what I never said”…
