Unemployed at 18? What can I expect?

Hi! I'm almost 19 years old and have been living alone for a year because things were getting difficult with my family. I had to drop out of my apprenticeship because it was expensive, and I couldn't afford it anymore.

Now I'm registered as unemployed and receiving citizen's allowance. Starting in September, I'll be attending evening school so I can do something! However, I feel so bad that I ended up like this. I have a disability, which makes most jobs and training programs difficult for me, and I can only really work in very few jobs. It still always ends in burnout after 3-4 months.

I've already been to career counseling, but they just said that I'm clearly too mentally ill to do anything at all, but what good does that do me?

I'm really scared of what's coming in the next few months. I'll be able to receive BAföG in a year and a half, but what will happen until then? What kind of jobs will I be offered? I'm also really scared that I'll end up working at a checkout counter at Penny, for example.

Could someone, perhaps with similar experiences, tell me what to expect? And whether there are alternatives I might have overlooked?

For people with disabilities, there is the possibility of training through various vocational training schemes (BBW). The costs are borne by the employment office (if the case has been examined and approved).

From September I will visit an evening gymnasium so I can do anything at all!

That’s bullshit.

Maybe you should treat yourself (nearly) psychotherapeutic.

In addition, there are social counselling points on site.
