Working conditions for doctors – especially psychiatrists?

Hello, my dears:)

if you know doctors or are doctors yourself – especially in the field of psychiatry, psychotherapy, psychosomatics, or neurology or endocrinology

…I'm really asking you to share your experiences in this field. (I'm asking because I don't know whether I should accept my medical school placement or psychology (but my chances of being accepted there are worse than in medicine).

  • How much free time do you have in your working life? Is it really true that a 60-hour workweek is normal? How do you manage to avoid burnout? How do you balance it with your family—especially important for me as a woman in the future, considering having children, etc.
  • To the psychiatrists or medical psychotherapists: Do you offer talk therapy? Or are you just "medication providers" who only have 5 minutes per patient (which I, for example, would find rather boring).
  • To the psychiatrists or medical psychotherapists II: Do you find your daily work more stressful than that of psychiatrists?

I'm aware that it depends on the size of the clinic and other factors, but in general, it would be very nice 🙂 Unfortunately, I don't know any doctors in these areas personally and the one doctor I know works part-time.

Yeah, that’s coming.

The practice has been dictating over 40 hours, then medical reports, requests and reports, all of which are 20 hours later.

The psychiatrist with whom I opened the practice was quickly unresolved, he died of a heart attack after a short time.

The leisure time is low, as you are still busy with expert advice and training until late evening and weekends.

The fates of the patients do not leave doctors cold. I’ve reported about a settled psychiatrist in a practice.

An enormous load capacity is to be assumed.

You have to live and love the profession, not just do it. That’s more than work, that’s devotion, silence, listening. Psychology is complicated. You’re not just going to work, you take the job home, you’re dreaming about it.
