Aquarium water black after restart?

Good day,

I restarted my aquarium two days ago.

New pump, new substrate and new plants.

The substrate is black gravel which I washed with a sieve.

Shortly after filling the pool the water was completely clear.

Now the water is cloudy and very dark. Is this caused by the substrate and the roots?

In addition, a film has formed on the water surface.

Does anyone have any idea if or what I should do?

Hello,

that can come from the black gravel, it would have been better to stir it in a bucket (not only rinse in the sieve) until the water is clear!

Otherwise, the discoloration can now come from the root in the entry phase through a bacterial blossom and humic substances, which is quite normal. The water becomes clear again with time, but then through the root rather assume amber color!

I don’t think it’s a tam skin now, but rather dust and abrasion from the ground.

Does anyone have an idea whether or what I have to do?

Yes nothing, because in the entry phase one needs patience, as in all aquaculture, because here nothing goes fast;-)

Also, a change of water would be more counterproductive, because this would reduce the desired load on the water again and thus extend this first phase!

The heating rod should run because of the plants, just like the whole technique; with light and filter!

It doesn’t look black, it’s milky. The black “effect” comes from the ground floor. The turbidity is normal, this film on the water surface is a cahm skin.

And in the entry phase there are no animals in the aquarium yet, then you do not need a heating rod 😀

then you don’t need a heater 😀

It depends on the plants, they could take it badly.

Looks like a rather violent blossom of bacteria. This can happen when you drive in. The harder it is, the faster it is usually gone.

Looks like a bacterial blossom, is normal in the entry phase

Is actually normal if after 5 – 7 days is not gone I recommend a flocculant/water clarifier.

Let it go for a while, that should be set.
