Apply internally?

It's much wiser to let your boss know if you want to apply for a position elsewhere within the company, right?

I don't have a close relationship with my boss, but I consider him to be social and human.

Applying for a job elsewhere behind his back and then unexpectedly leaving would be antisocial in my opinion, because his sudden disappearance could cause him problems with vacation planning and work schedules.

Is there any good reason not to tell the boss?

Why would he want to put obstacles in my way?

Can my boss perhaps even support me in this?

According to him, I always did a good job and had good relationships with my colleagues.

I just feel uncomfortable about it because I don't want to come across as a traitor if I tell him. God knows how he'll react.

Do you have any experience with this?

you should definitely tell him; the chance is very high that you will ask him anyway for his assessment of you. Then he should be informed. Otherwise, you’ll be with him and if necessary with the new department below.

Be open to him and tell him it’s a great way you’d like to perceive. If he’s nice and convinced of you, he’ll even put a good word for you.

there is, of course, a chance that he does not want to give you, but that he will accept (must)

as I said, you can’t hide it anyway.

Then he would have to expect you to leave the company completely on the next occasion. So borne superiors are rare. He or she will know about your application.

at the latest when it comes to the interview, the subject area will look at your resume and see that you are already working in the company. If the chef doesn’t call your boss at least once, something in the company would run wrong. You can hardly get a better wire or a better assessment for an applicant. because you should also play the “I know the company already” card.
