Apple ID?

Hi. I'm getting an iPad from school next year, and I have a question about my Apple ID. I have an Android, so I don't have an Apple ID, and I'd like to create one so I can download apps. However, I feel like I'll have to hand the iPad in between school years, like during the summer holidays. So I'm wondering if I only have the iPad and no other Apple device. Can I log out of the iPad with my Apple ID, since I don't have any other device? Because then the ID wouldn't be registered anywhere.
