Antibiotics as a precaution?
Hey,
My sister is sick and is now in the hospital with mild meningitis. I've been sleeping in her bed for the last three days (long story). What are the chances that I have it now, too? Can the doctor give me antibiotics now, even though I don't have any symptoms? Just as a precaution; I don't want to get sick.
No one knows this because no one knows WOHER’s brain inflammation actually came. This can be contagious, for example in meningokokken, but this can also not be contagious, as for example in FSME.
So clearly, this is transmitted by ticking, but the disease itself is not contagious for the people outside.
Give antibiotics prophylactically… would probably have been advised by the doctor if you could really do a lot. Promise with the doctor how this is sensible.
On the one hand, your story doesn’t even show whether the whole thing is bacteria-related, i.e. whether antibiotics can help at all what WÜRDEN, on the other hand, doctors don’t like this if it’s not something really serious.
This is due to the fact that antibiotics are, on the one hand, super useful against bacteria, but on the other hand, of course, also the complete bacteria-based intestinal flora, which can also be a burden for you, your body and your health.
Antibiotics is a very good and effective drug, but should be used with caution.
Please discuss this with the doctor and how high the risk is for you to have put you on.
