I only have my Volksbank card and would like to have a second one for security.

I now take the Barclays….this seems to have the best conditions….below all the bankers…;(
If creditworthiness is good enough, Barclays or Bank Norwegian would be the best options that there are both without account management fees.
I have above also .. unfortunately a 100% alternative there is no more especially free and then still get back money that can be redeemed at Amazon is over. There’s nothing like that.
I chose the Lufthansa Miles and More but costs 35 euros a year and can save miles.
Disadvantage of the card : Mastercard , no visa and unfortunately a wish pin possible. Banking is as large as Amazon 😉
Otherwise I can recommend the Norway Card Visa, Free , no bonus, a direct debit is unfortunately not possible at my bank .. Otherwise top customer service.

Hm, I also had several years of Mastercard and never had any acceptance problems (in Europe and North America). At least not in the sense that MC was not taken, but Visa already. But in places it may be different.
There are at least three major providers for free Visa credit cards in Germany:

Even I have the bank Norwegian and I am so happy with it. However, it should have a comparatively high rejection rate. Barclays often read online from a more aggressive blocking algorithm in payments abroad and Hanseatic is comparatively small and difficult to increase, and it is easier to accept.
