Alter Nymphensittich (28) aus Einzelhaltung übernommen, wie soll es weiter gehen?
Hallo!
Ich habe einen 28 jährigen Nymphie aufgenommen. Die Vorbesitzer wollten ihm einen ‘Freiflug’ geben (aussetzen) .
Er wurde anscheinend schon immer einzeln gehalten und ist auf den Menschen geprägt. Nun sind Nymphensittiche ja eigentlich Schwarmtiere oder brauchen wenigstens einen Partner, aber irgendwie habe ich in seiner Situation ein paar Bedenken (bezüglich abgeben zu einem Schwarm) , weil er ja andere Vögel gar nicht kennt.
Hat jemand mit ähnlichen Fällen Erfahrung?
Er kann nicht fliegen. Ob das mangelnder Freiflug ist kann ich noch nicht sagen. Die Tierärztin meinte auch ihm fehlen vorne an den Flügeln die Schwungfedern, die er zum fliegen braucht.

The socialization of a single, misconformed nymphsittich is very difficult at this late age.
That doesn’t mean it’s worth a try.
It is best to resocialize nymphsittiche with a swarm. A single nymph is usually not possible and could even be a drain valve for aggressions and frustration.
In a swarm, on the other hand, there are several nymphs which can show him where it goes long and what he can afford and what he cannot. He would have to go into a larger, well-balanced group to learn the behavior of others. Best with couples and singles. Such things are usually very picky and not always remain true to the same partner.
In time, contact with people should be limited to an absolute minimum, so that they must surrender with the other nymphsites. He will not do it himself if he has the opportunity to come to man.

You can find out if they have an older nymph. It would be nice for the bird if he had some company in his old days.
