Start concert photography as a teenager?
Hey, I'll be 15 next year and I'm thinking about getting a camera 🙂
I really enjoy taking photos and editing images, but I also listen to a lot of music from smaller German artists.
I'd be interested to hear your tips on how to get started taking photos at festivals or small concerts (without being paid or anything like that, of course)? Do you have any experience with this? Which camera should I get first? Do I need a specific image editing program, how does it work, etc.
I've already helped out on the crew at a smaller music festival and could imagine asking if I can take photos there next year. Feel free to share any helpful ideas you have, thank you!
The problem is that you usually need a press acreditation and even then you have to pay attention to strenge rules.
I therefore use a Sony Rx 100 III for concerts, which is small and inconspicuous and with a little effort and reworking it becomes quite useful
Go to free music festivals (e.g. at city festivals) and take pictures and pass the photos to the organizers or groups. Contacts can then be made about this.
Bissl Handyknipsfotografie and Filterchen on it is already a difference to professional photography with a camera where you should also deal with settings and exposure triangle.
And then the question is what you can spend, because for a decent camera with zoom lens you can plan at least 400-1000€. A minimum equipment for Newbies would be there:
Used Canon EOS 70D | MPB
Used Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM | MPB
Or better:
Used Canon EOS 77D | MPB
Used Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM | MPB
I doubt that the organizers will have you photographed professionally. You need permissions.
What for?
I don’t know. It’s your job to find out. You got a clue, and the rest is hanging with you.
then it could be flaps, but that with the first 3 songs will still apply if you can dig them in stages
a lot of success
but I don’t go in to the entrance, I’m going to build up etc. all the time backstage, later have a crew pass etc. I’ll ask.
I have delivered you one….the small detail with the press acreditation is unfortunately being suppressed by the professionals here
a mirror reflex or a Systhem camera you will otherwise take off at the entrance and you can pick it up at the end
then propose better? the festival is as small as I said, and I know the organizers personally, what is there for regulations? If you cannot deliver a clear answer, don’t write anything at all
But this is especially when you come with such Oschies as Uneternal suggests you
if I come backstage and can make photos with the handy, do I doubt that there is more strict rules with a camera?
