Air Marshals is a concealed security force that should intervene quickly and effectively in the event of a threat on board.

In Germany, these Sky Marshals or Air Safety Officers are called, and are specially trained officials from the Federal Police or the Federal Criminal Office, which are also armed during the flight.

Whether a Sky Marshal is on board is kept strictly secret for security reasons. Only a very limited group of employees of the airline, the airport operator and the security authorities are aware of this.

Sky Marshals can be on board all flights that start or land from German airlines in Germany. The precise deployment plans are treated very sensitively, and when a Sky Marshal is deployed on board, the federal police decides in coordination with the airlines and security authorities.

These are often used on flights which are considered to be particularly vulnerable. These are mainly flights to countries with increased risk of terrorism or with economic or political importance.

Yes, there is, even in Germany. Is route independent and we are kept too secret. No one gets that on board, usually not the crew, or just by accident. As a rule, only the captain is informed, but even this happens very short-term.

Yes, there is. The only one who gets to know who this is is the captain just before departure.

And wrong again. The purser also knows. I’m working on an airline and I’m always busy.
