Afraid of TSS?

Since my periods are relatively heavy and a pad feels like a diaper (plus, I only have to have one surge and I'm almost leaking), I use tampons…

I've set an alarm for 4 hours to change it… but I'm afraid I'll oversleep (because it will be 2 a.m.) and then I'll have a completely full tampon in there for 8 hours.

Is this very bad (you can get TSS)?

The risk of illness for a toxic shock syndrome (TSS) due to the use of tampons is extremely low.

There are alwaysIndividual caseswhere the disease is associated with the use of tampons. At the end of the 1970s and the beginning of the 1980s, the concept of ‘tampon disease’ was established in the United States, as during this period special high-absorbent products were temporarily on the market and were observed in parallel menstrual TSS.

A later investigation into the influence of the material of tampons and associated risks for a TSS did not result in any clear result. In several current cases, the germ that triggered the TSS could be isolated from tampons that wore the sick patients in hospital instructions.

Taking into account the worldwide widespread use of tampons for decades, the common occurrence of TSS in connection with menstruation and the use of tampons is extremely rare.

Typical symptoms of a TSS are sudden appearance of headaches, dizziness and in particular a drop in blood pressure as well as high fever and sometimes also sunburn-like skin rash. In the case of corresponding symptoms, medical assistance must be sought.

Happy for you!

Hello

With a Toxic shock, you usually feel very bad and you would be in a much worse condition now.

The Toxic Shock Syndrome is very rare and arises due to lack of hygiene and the too long wearing of a tampon. Certain bacteria must have come in when they are introduced and then the tampons must have remained in the vagina for too long. In the past, this syndrome was much more common since it was not yet known that it comes from too long wearing a super absorbent tampon and lack of hygiene. Nowadays, the production of tampons is also different than at the time and we have a better hygiene.

It is very unlikely that from just 4-5 hours of tampon you have got a toxic shock. Even if you had him, you’d be in the hospital at the latest and be in the intensive care unit tomorrow.

Today, not only are other manufacturing processes used, but also knows more about the TSS than at the time and has found solutions to bypass it. There are exactly two things that almost completely bypass the TSS.

  • Hands before inserting and remove thoroughly wash. Generally hygiene is a very important point.
  • Exchange the tampon no later than 8 hours. The upper limit is best after 6 hours but 8 hours.

If you think these points happen to nothing and the TSS has no chance. To also compare how rare the TSS is: there are some who do not take any value at all on the above points. They leave tampons without protective film in bags or in cupboards, do not wash their hands in front of each. Leave him in 10-12 hours and don’t care. Most of the so unclean with tampons get a very dry vagina and inflammation, mushrooms, infects, parasites etc. but the TSS may only get a very small proportion of them.

If you are still afraid, remove the tampon immediately and use other hygiene products such as menstruation sauces, menstruation underwear. If you haven’t become unconscious until tomorrow or you’ve got strong fever, then it’s definitely not a toxic shock but something else.

I hope I could help you 🙃

Good luck 🍀

I’ve read a tip on the Internet to make the tampon clean just before you go to sleep, and if you’re supposed to change it right away. So you’re on the safe side even without an alarm clock, you can’t sleep longer than 8h, but I’ll take it you don’t sleep more than 8h anyway.

It doesn’t happen so fast.

Do you have to get used to it and do not bleed so much at night

Many. During the night the bandages always slip and then everything goes next.

They don’t slip when you fix them properly, with the wings

You could just as well ask ‘who sleeps please with’ a tie

I just feel like I’m sleeping with tampon at night. With ties I always had problems at night, which slip sometimes or do not cover everything, and my period is relatively strong. I can just sleep a lot better with Tampon

Yeah, you probably roll around too often in your sleep. It’s normal.

Then it will have some reason

Funny. I’ve got some wings, and I’m gonna fix them, but they always slip.

When you get used to it, you can’t feel it anymore
