Afraid of speed?
Hello, today I had my 6th practice driving lesson and I'm incredibly scared of speed. So to put it a bit more clearly, I feel extremely uncomfortable, my legs go weak and my heart starts racing when the driving instructor tells me to go faster. I don't have a problem up to about 25-30 km/h, when I can stay relatively relaxed, but when the display goes any higher, it's all over for me. I'm really so scared… (the driving instructor often takes over when we're going faster, but he says I have to do it myself…) I'm just generally afraid of speed, whether it's a roller coaster or if I'm sitting in the passenger seat and someone is going fast, I just feel really uncomfortable and mentally pray that it will stop quickly because it's so bad for me. Driving slowly is absolutely no problem and my driving instructor has already praised me for driving well for a beginner and for having a feel for it.
I have absolutely no idea how to do this on highways…it will be a disaster 😩
Do you have any tips on how I can get rid of this terrible fear or how I can control it?
Would be grateful for any kind of tips.
Thanks.
If this fear is so bad, why do you even make a license? The speed limits are 30 kmh on the least roads. It’s usually 50 or 70.
Sounds stupid, but you have to tear yourself together. This is not easy and will hurt you emotionally for the first time. But a person can only feel a limited amount of fear. At some point, the supply of fear is empty and it is simply no longer possible to feel fear. It can take a few minutes or an hour. Until then, you’ll have to do it or keep it bad.
And otherwise meditation can help to reach a more relaxed state of mind.
🤔 Fear of driving fast…
What does that like for a cause?
Was there situations in your past that had to do with high speed and injury or frightening situation? Maybe a bike or a scooter could go down and fall?
Then you should realize that a car is significantly safer than a bike or a scooter and cannot happen much to yourself.
Only yesterday I drove with 140-160Km/h on the left track and before me a truck has pulled to the left track (of course I was expecting to drive another truck to the highway next to him and at high speeds you generally have to make the other people stupid things) but since my car has passed over an emergency brake assist and this technique reacts faster than a person who at such speeds would have driven me well 50m so far.
So under 100km/h, in a modern car, you can’t really see what’s really bad and in the driving school, the driving instructor or the driving instructor is taking the emergency if something goes wrong. The number of relapse deaths has drastically declined compared to earlier when new and better safety systems in the vehicles.
I used to. I still know that came up incredibly fast in the first few driving hours 30kmh.
Don’t let the users say that you shouldn’t make the driver’s license.
It’s time.
I’m sorry, this is more of a thing for the psychologist.
Or learning by doing.
In this case, would regularly drive kart and do everything that is quick. Bungee, parachute, …
