My buddy gets many SMS from the ING

This sounds very like fishing SMS to those not really coming from the ING but from any scams. Banks usually do not communicate with their customers by SMS.

For me, it sounds more like your buddy fell in on scams. when I look at the spam folder, there are also zig text messages from any scams of allegedly any banks that I am not even a customer.

Probably your buddy submitted an application at the ING and at the same time got SMS from scams.

I can only say good about the ING. If your mate has been rejected by the ING, it may be a bad credit or false information.

I’m afraid the SMS will come from scams.

A bank also does not communicate by SMS, and the TAN numbers for a transaction are higher in the 2 factor authorization.

Passwords and credentials come by post.
I also think the rejection of an account application will come by post if real.

And detailed information, letters, which are available in the mailbox in the customer portal.

It is possible that someone has opened an account with his data.
Then the “bank” calls, asks if he got the SMS and what the TAN is…

No, if the bank refuses it then I would not want to open an account 😉
