Registration requirements Components need an ABE or just a registration (brake lever, footrests)

The ABE is a document that allows the component. You always have to bring it with you, unless you let the component enter the TÜV (coins 60€ or so). You need to take care of combinations. The ABE shall apply to the standard vehicle. So if you have an exhaust with ABE, the ABE with the serial air filter applies. Even if the air filter has an ABE, the parts can be illegal in combination. So in that case, you had to let both of you be angry.

Some non-conductive components need a type-approval (coupling lever, flasher, lighting)

The E number is a stamp that says you can use this component in Europe. The KBA is the same for Germany. Both are mounted on the component. Important: Just because an E-number or a KBA is printed on, this does not automatically mean that it is a non-input component.

Some components are without type approval and do not need anything except correct attachment (stickers, grip rubbers, mobile phone holders and almost all spare parts)
