Abdominal problems for over a month that have gotten worse since surgery?

Hello everyone,

Sorry for the novel…

I (21f) have been having stomach problems and general strange symptoms for over a month.

On December 20, 2022, I had a laparoscopy, where they removed an overial cyst on my left side (for the third time). That's when it all began.

For a week later, my bowels stopped making noises, and I had such severe bloating you'd think I was seven months pregnant. The doctors said it was a gastrointestinal infection.

Afterward, I began experiencing severe hair loss, dizziness (sometimes I almost fell to the floor because everything went black), nausea, diarrhea, and headaches. I took medication for the nausea and diarrhea.

Abdominal pain also developed, but on the left side, which occurred irregularly or shortly before bowel movements. There was also blood in the stool for three days.

I've been to the doctor several times. I barely mentioned that I had irritable bowel syndrome two years ago, but haven't had it since. They said it was irritable bowel syndrome with iron/vitamin B12 deficiency. One doctor even said it was hemorrhoids, which I've never had, and they couldn't feel anything.

I don't have an iron or vitamin B12 deficiency; my enzymes are excellent, and so are my blood work. Mentally, I'm doing great and don't have any stress or other negative environmental influences. I can rule out irritable bowel syndrome, especially since my irritable bowel syndrome is fairly mild.

I recently requested the operation report and it said that I had adhesions connecting the intestine and the pelvic wall.

I also found the long surgery time of 1:30 am strange, and that I woke up on the monitoring station with no memory of the two hours after the surgery, which I never had. I also vaguely remember that I had a panic attack and then everything went black. What I did record is that I was given Dormikum and even Fentanyl, and that I had to be manually ventilated, but I could be wrong; I was completely dazed for the next 24 hours. And I still remember the fan next to the bed. But none of that was mentioned in the report.

I asked, and she said it was possible that this adhesion could be responsible for the abdominal pain, but as soon as I mentioned my history of irritable bowel syndrome, everyone said it was him. They did an ultrasound, and there were no abnormalities.

I'm at a loss. I've been to various doctors and specialists, and none of them were taken seriously at all, just because I once had problems with irritable bowel syndrome. I'm practically dependent on my heating pad at the moment.

It's also worth mentioning that before the surgery, my liver enzymes were at 230 due to long-term paracetamol poisoning. But that went down again.

Is there anything else I can do?

Tips for alleviating symptoms are welcome!

Buscopan helps well with intestinal cramps, is vegetable and free from recipes. To the cause I can't write anything, but I know how nasty and painful that is, I had to fight for years with intestinal diverticulas that had repeatedly ignited (diverticulitis). I am also a doctor to a doctor until my doctor recommended me a visceral surgeon, who later also operated on me (sigmaresisction). It may not be wrong to get another opinion, even if it may be annoying.
