Salt mining then and now?

Hello, our chemistry assignment is about how salt was mined in the past and how it is mined today. I've been researching for some time, but haven't found anything suitable. The explanation should be about a page long.

I would be very grateful if you could help me.

In the past, seawater was let dry or brine water was boiled from mineral sources. Salt mines were rather the exceptions.

You can find it in many local names – Hallstadt, Salzgitter, Reichenhall…

Today, salt is cheapest mass goods. Stone salt is a by-product in 600 m deep potassium mines. Germany is rich here as we live in an old, evaporated sea basin, the Zechsteinmeer.

Stone salt was mined earlier under days, nowadays it is dissolved as much as I know with water because it is easier
