When is paint protection film worth it and why?

Good day,

I've leased a new Mini for three years and don't want to be stuck with expensive paintwork costs when I return the lease. I drive 15,000 km a year, half in the city and half on the highway. I had a special paint job on my Mini for €500. For fear of stone chips/scuffs and scratches, which would be charged heavily upon return, I've considered getting a paint protection film. It'll cost me quite a bit up front, but it allows me to drive with much peace of mind, and the film is easy to remove.

My question is, is paint protection film worth it?
I've already received a quote for €1,500 from a wrapping company. They would wrap my hood, side mirrors, and fenders.

A) Too expensive.

B) Normal traces of use, including smaller stone chips, may NOT count on you.

You cannot and must not expect the state of a new car after three years.

Have fun

Greeting from the mini driver

Something you write. Only some windy types of people try it again and again.

This is even in my leasing contract, the normal and old signs of use are not counted at the end of the leasing period.

You have to know yourself. Stone chips are normal signs of use. No one’s going to tell you something. Scratches and dents are paid by insurance. So I wouldn’t do it. You’re already losing money with the leasing. I wouldn’t pay for that.

You can do it. But as a rule, you should film only after a few weeks.
