Not at all. A Martingal is not absolutely necessary for jumping. Rightly strapped, maybe it’s the “most friendly” of all the helpers, but to start jumping, you don’t need it. Maybe later in the heavy classes, but not at the beginning.

It takes a few years to make it really sense.

Start with the jumping lessons – the start is not really made of jumps, so you can jam the purchase.

If you’re worried that you’re “going over the handlebar,” so you’re going to fall forward at deep horsenecks and take the rein. The Martingal serves, properly strapped, to ensure that the rein does not hang in such a big loop that the horse enters and breaks through the jerk at the end also the jaw. Then it would only have to be redeemed because of the balance loss of the rider.

You put the ring around the neck, strap it on the saddle strap and ask the horse to lift the head. Then you strap it so long that the rings reach into the Ganaian bow before you thread the reins. It is thus prevented that the reins are “broken” and the action on the load takes place instead of the mouth angle. Blöd: due to frequent alienation, you have to buy a size larger nowadays, otherwise you can’t buckle it long enough.
