A year abroad at 13?

Hello,

I (m13) would like to spend a year abroad. I feel far too confined here in Germany, even though I've had 8 of the last 15 weeks of vacation. Although vacation helps, my family is already planning vacations, and the year abroad would be from Christmas 2023 until we'll see how long I do it (about 0.5-1.5 years). I just want to get out, get to know new cultures, countries, and places, and for longer than just a two-week vacation spent just doing leisure activities. Do you think that would be okay at 14?
My ideas would be Canada, the USA, or southern France, Italy, England or Italy.

Do you think a year abroad like this is okay?

Hello

a year abroad during school, a student exchange, is a good idea. For this:

  • The purpose of the foreign year is that you get to know another country, people, culture, everyday life and language well
  • The prerequisite is that you are so far from the development that you can manage without your parents and friends for so long. Usually young people aged 14/15 are older
  • For the year abroad you need to leave your school. This varies somewhat depending on the state/school form and the assessment of the school. Usually you can go abroad well in the 10th or 11th grade.

best regards

I would go abroad at the earliest with 15 and even there you are still very young. That's a big step you shouldn't underestimate. But in principle I find extremely great and would recommend anyone who thinks to do a year abroad, recommend doing it.

Jain,

wherever you need a visa for your exchange, you can only go later:

  • Canada,
  • USA
  • England

Here you don't need a visa if you can organize an exchange, then you can go to school there.

  • Southern France,
  • Italy

Nevertheless, many will consider you too young. But it's going to happen with a stay at the boarding school.

hey,
14/15 is absolutely on order I am 8 days after I became 15 flew to Brazil in my year abroad. Because of the visa, my age really wasn't a problem.
I really enjoy my time here and I can only recommend it 100% at this age.

Love greetings;)
