Hello, I found about six small, brown, dead beetles on my wooden windowsill in a week. The internet says they could be bread beetles. However, I checked all the food and books and didn't find any more. As I said, I've only ever found them on the windowsill. Could it be another beetle?

Das dürfte eine Wespe sein, keine Biene. Sie sieht so aus. Sie baut Kokons oder sowas.

You wrote "mortar bee," and my answer is: Mortar bees build tiny nests in holes and lay one egg. Hence, they are solitary bees. They don't build large structures. That's what insect hotels are for.
What you have is something different and therefore my answer is wrong!
They're very useful. It won't damage the window. Leave the little creature alone.

Sei doch froh das sie ein Platz gefunden hat wo es ihr gefällt. Das ist in unserer Zeit nicht selbstverständlich. In einer Zeit wo jeder eine Treppenfuge draussen zumörtelt und die wildkräuter aus dem Rasen sticht. Aber honig wollen sie alle auf dem tisch stehen haben…..
