Are junkies to blame themselves?
Do you think drug/alcohol addicts are to blame for their situation?
I think if everyone became addicted straight away, the whole world would be full of junkies because everyone has tried alcohol at least once in their life.
No, they are not. Addictions are, as the name suggests, illnesses and many addicts have psychological problems that later led them to become dependent and/or have a genetic predisposition to addictive behavior.
In addition, there is incredibly poor information about drugs and especially alcohol.
What warning signs to look out for, how to recognize addictive patterns in yourself, and what you can do to counteract them. When it comes to drugs, education is also poor.
I once dealt with a patient from a youth psychiatric hospital when I was doing an internship there who had been addicted to heroin for years.
He didn't know that "Shore" was heroin for a whole year, until an old addict asked him about it and said something like, "So young and already on heroin?" He simply replied, "I would never take something like heroin, it's just Shore…"
Well, it turns out he'd been taking "something like heroin" for a year, and these aren't isolated cases. It happens all the time, especially young people, to accidentally consume drugs they didn't intend to.
Instead of a line of amphetamine, it quickly becomes methamphetamine or instead of some cannabis, synthetic cannabinoids.
You can stand up and say "yes, you never have to take anything intoxicating, pfff" but who are YOU to judge other people's decisions?
Of course, you can't absolve addicts of 100% of the blame, but addiction is much more complex than "it's your own fault, idiot haha lol XD!"
I think they usually slip into it because of their circumstances and if they are dependent it is not so easy for those who do not even try to get rid of their addiction, it is their own fault
Nobody forced them to consume. It was their own fault.
If you don't love yourself anymore, you don't care if you drink yourself to death. The main thing is that the bad feelings go away. Nobody is to blame. Shit happens.
No, you are not to blame for an addiction. Some children are born with withdrawal symptoms and genes play a big role
Every child today knows that alcohol and drugs are addictive. Therefore, one is responsible for one's own addiction, just as one is responsible for an unwanted pregnancy due to lack of contraception.
