End your holiday job early?

Hi, I was actually supposed to start my apprenticeship as a plumbing and heating systems mechanic on August 1st, but I'm going to drop out. The problem is, I'm currently at the company where I would have started my apprenticeship and am doing a summer job, which I'm completely fed up with. Do you think I can ask my boss if he can pay me for the two weeks I worked?

PS: Nothing was contractually agreed upon (except for the training), so theoretically I could just leave now. But of course, I would like to get paid for the two weeks I worked.

depends on what you agreed, talk to him and say that you still need a few days of vacation before you start your training

You can ask your boss to enter into an early termination agreement with you regarding your holiday job.

Of course, a holiday job is also subject to certain employment law conditions / notice periods – regardless of whether there is a written agreement in this regard or not.

General usual notice periods:

If this short term is valid, then – unless a probationary period has been agreed – termination is excluded.

Even if you don't want to admit it, the usual notice periods apply to verbal contracts—even verbal contracts are subject to applicable labor law. You are also entitled to vacation entitlements for full months.

How do you come to that conclusion? A fixed-term contract must be in writing.
