Does my PC have air or water cooling?
I bought this gaming PC: https://www.medion.com/de/shop/p/high-end-gaming-pcs-medion-erazer-engineer-x20-intel-core-i7-12700-windows-11-home-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3070-lhr-2-tb-ssd-16-gb-ram-high-end-ga ming-pc-10024703A1?FF_QUERY=-sk-0823-gaming-week&FF_POS=10&FF_PAGE=1&FF_PAGESIZE=30&FF_ SCORE=100.0&FF_CAMPAIGN=cbe08fbc-10fb-49c0-9839-1a081f162766&FF_CAMPAIGN_PAGE_ID=&_gl=1 *1hiwxey*_up*MQ..&gclid=CjwKCAjw7c2pBhAZEiwA88pOF_8f3_VBTvD3ynua1sWMm_HJTiYrCBVq-YTgCxS7u_0GylWeDh2e8BoCFFoQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds and I'm not sure if it has air or water cooling because it's not listed anywhere. How can I tell from my PC? It's in front of me.
And if anyone knows a lot about PCs, is €1,000 a good price for it? Or was I ripped off?
It appears to be a 120mm AiO water cooler. AiO water coolers are generally maintenance-free. The name "water cooler" is a bit misleading, as the water only serves to transport heat. It's a closed circuit, with water constantly flowing between the processor and a heat sink (radiator).
The water heats up at the processor, thereby removing heat from the processor. It then flows through the hose to the heat sink, which is equipped with fans. Here, the water itself is cooled, and the heat is dissipated into the surrounding air. The now cool water flows back to the processor, and the process starts all over again. The whole process is, of course, powered by a pump.
AiOs can lose some water over a long period of time (we're talking many years here), but many AiOs can't be refilled. This isn't a major problem in itself, except for the fact that air in the circuit can cause noise. Too much air will eventually impair cooling performance. Furthermore, the pumps in these water-cooling systems are often prone to failure and eventually start to become loud or simply fail.
As you can see, water cooling systems do have some disadvantages. The advantage of water cooling is that you can use fairly large heatsinks, as the tubing allows for relative flexibility in where you place them in the case.
However, this one appears to use a 120 x 120 mm heatsink. This is smaller than what many air coolers offer. This combines the disadvantages of an AiO with low cooling performance. This shows that Medion unfortunately paid more attention to aesthetics and less to durability and quality.
Thank you for the good explanation, that really helped
The water cooling is clearly visible in the picture, although I suspect it's a bit undersized for your CPU.
The hardware itself is worth 1k for a finished system.

Hi,
I didn't see anything about it in the description either, but that doesn't mean anything. Plain statements like "…you'll rarely find that in off-the-shelf PCs" are just speculation and won't get you anywhere.
Judging by the photo, it's got a water cooler (an all-in-one liquid cooler). There's only a small cap on the processor (in front of the large fan).
Similar to the product here.

It won't be the most complex, as there are some amazing water cooling designs out there.
I can't tell you whether they need to be refilled every now and then. The sample product does have some of that. Look for the instruction manual for a similar product and read it.
The principle of water cooling isn't simply adding cold water. The water simply transports the heat away from the concentrated hot spot and dissipates it into the air over a larger area. It looks a bit nicer because there's no huge heat sink in the case, and it's a bit quieter.
At first glance, the price seems OK. If you want to know the exact price, you can enter the individual components on Alternate. However, you'll have to add another 100-150 for installation and the operating system. It'll definitely run very well.
Have fun gaming!
PS don't let friends drive you crazy when they tell you AMD would have been much cheaper… Intel definitely has advantages too, and if the processors and graphics cards weren't worth the price, the company wouldn't exist anymore.
Thank you very much, best answer honestly 😭
Air cooling
If water cooling, there would be an indication.
Just look at your PC, then you'll have the proof.
I don't understand all this haha there are 3 fans but also 2 fat hose
The hoses are the cables that are tied together
and the hose goes to the CPU?
Phew, good to hear, thank you very much 😀
No idea
No, it was definitely worth it 🙂
and if it's not too much to ask haha do you think the pc was worth 1k or was I ripped off?
All right, thanks. When I close games like Honkai Impact, it manages to drop from 73 degrees to 55 degrees within seconds. Could air cooling do that?
gladly 🙂
Thank you
Yes, now you can see something. It could actually be water cooling.
They run from the CPU to the RGB fan. In my opinion: Definitely a water cooling system
Now there are different answers, one says that it's just cables haha
This is a water cooling system.
Funny, that should be there.
I've just attached a photo. Unfortunately, I have no idea where the CPU is, but the GPU is at the bottom.
Air cooling
You will rarely find water cooling in off-the-shelf PCs
There is nothing under search.
