How can I connect two iMacs with a Thunderbolt USB C cable (I want to use one iMac as a display)?

Hello!

I have two iMacs, and I want to use one of them as a second monitor. I've read that you need a Thunderbolt cable for that. I've now connected the two iMacs with a Thunderbolt USB-C cable (Apple) and pressed the shortcuts command+f2, but strangely enough, nothing happens.

Can someone please help me?

Thanks, I found out yesterday that only older Mac models, I think can be used as a screen by 2014. As of 2017, I am not able to:(
